Unrecorded Utility Crossing Under a Street — Parallel GPR Profiles at 350 MHz
Description
Utility survey on a street, acquired with a GSSI UtilityScan 350 MHz HyperStacking antenna: 9 parallel profiles spaced 1 m apart, crossing the alignment of a planned trench.
The survey revealed utilities that do not appear on the record drawings, crossing the street diagonally right where the trench was to be dug. The dataset also shows shallow changes in the road structure — surface layer variations and backfill from earlier works — which produce reflections easily confused with utilities by an untrained eye.
This combination makes it a realistic training case for utility detection before excavation: locating the crossings, following them from one profile to the next, and telling buried services apart from ground structure. Raw unprocessed files.
