Description
Circular reinforced concrete column, 20 cm radius, surveyed by horizontal scanning around its full perimeter with a GSSI FLEX NX dual-channel antenna, inline and cross-line. One file. The circumference was measured on site with a tape.
A circular column poses a problem that flat surfaces do not. A radargram assumes a flat surface and plots depth perpendicular to a straight line. Here the distance axis is an arc, and the perpendiculars to the surface converge towards the column axis.
The section view in GPRviewer corrects exactly this: given the radius, it places each picked bar at its true geometric position within the cross-section, and the reinforcement cage recovers its circular shape.
The measured circumference provides a direct check: the radius follows from it, and the profile length should match one full turn of the column. A discrepancy reveals a survey-wheel calibration error before interpretation even begins.
