Reinforced Concrete Accessibility Ramp: Three Frequencies, Two 2.5 GHz Antennas and Cross-Polarisation on the Same Profile

Reinforced Concrete Accessibility Ramp: Three Frequencies, Two 2.5 GHz Antennas and Cross-Polarisation on the Same Profile

Description

Reinforced concrete accessibility ramp surveyed along the same profile with three configurations: dual-frequency UtilityScan DF at 300/800 MHz, dual-channel FLEX NX at 2.5 GHz, and NX25 at 2.5 GHz inline then cross-line. Four files.

The dataset supports three comparisons on identical targets.

Between frequencies, from 300 MHz to 2.5 GHz — the widest range in the collection on a single profile. The 300 MHz channel passes through the structure and reaches the subgrade without separating the bars, 800 MHz begins to resolve them, and 2.5 GHz finely resolves the top layer at the cost of depth.

Between antennas at equal frequency: FLEX NX and NX25 both operate at 2.5 GHz, so the differences observed stem from their design, not their frequency.

Between polarisations: the FLEX NX records inline and cross-line simultaneously, in one file; the NX25 requires two passes. Bar response varies with the orientation of the electric field.

The average dielectric constant was calibrated at 12, a propagation velocity of about 8.7 cm/ns. A high value for concrete, it shows that a tabulated permittivity of 6 to 8 would have distorted every depth.

Raw unprocessed files.
